Barcode scanner PLC integration

Our smart readers present the same three data blocks to the PLC whichever protocol you use. Learn the handshake once, then pick PROFINET, EtherNet/IP or Modbus TCP to suit the controller.

  • Status blockReader → PLC: ready, ack, reading, success, completed
  • Control blockPLC → reader: trigger enable, trigger, result ack
  • Decode results blockCounters, result code, length, ASCII data
  • ModesTriggered by the PLC, or continuous

Integration questions

Do I have to register to download the files?

No. Datasheets, device description files and example projects are direct downloads.

Can two masters talk to one reader over Modbus TCP?

No. One Modbus TCP master connects at a time, so a triggered read means the PLC polls the status, control and results blocks in turn. In continuous mode it only needs to read the results block.

How long a code can the PLC receive?

The decode results block carries the result data length and the ASCII data. Over PROFINET you choose a results module sized to your code length.

Are the readers PROFINET or ODVA certified?

The readers support PROFINET and EtherNet/IP. We do not claim conformance certification.
